Overview
Aceman is a US-based marketplace that connects men seeking hair replacement and man weave services with vetted local specialists. The platform features specialist profiles with portfolios, star ratings, years of experience, and one-click consultation booking. We designed and built the full marketing site plus the specialist directory — a searchable, filterable listing of certified Afro and Straight Hair specialists across cities like Atlanta, Houston, NYC, Dallas, and London.
The Problem
The hair replacement and man weave industry had no trusted directory — men were relying on Instagram DMs and word of mouth to find specialists, often getting poor results. Specialists had no centralized way to build a verified reputation. Aceman needed a platform that built trust on both sides: a clean specialist-facing onboarding flow and a consumer-facing discovery experience that felt premium.
The Solution
A two-sided marketplace built on WordPress with a custom specialist directory. The homepage leads with a strong hero: "Book A Trusted Hair Replacement & Man Weave Specialist," underpinned by the social proof stat "3,000+ Services Booked." The Find Specialists page shows cards with specialist photo, specialty tags, rating, experience, and location — all filterable by city.
Navy/white colour system that reads medical-grade trust. Specialist cards are information-dense but scannable — rating badge, specialty chips, city tag, and two clear CTAs (View Details / Start Consultation). The homepage showcases Man Weave Specialists and provides a 3-step process (Search → Browse Portfolio → Book) to reduce drop-off.
WordPress with Advanced Custom Fields for the specialist profile CMS. Custom WP REST API endpoints power the live search-and-filter. Specialist onboarding is a multi-step Gravity Forms flow. Static pages built with Elementor Pro.
Our Process
Research
Interviewed 8 men who had used hair replacement services and 5 active specialists. Key insight: trust is the #1 barrier — men want to see real work, real ratings, and a real location before any money changes hands.
Design
Navy-and-white design system created to feel trustworthy rather than flashy. Card layout A/B tested against a list layout — cards won on mobile with 34% higher click-through.
Development
Eight-week build including custom WP REST API, Gravity Forms onboarding, and ACF-powered specialist profiles. City filter is JS-driven on the frontend with no page reload.
Testing
QA'd on 12 device/browser combinations. Specialist onboarding flow tested with 3 real specialists before go-live.
